GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT USING CAMP SOONER

We can accommodate groups from 1 - 175. There is a price break for the longer you stay and the more people you have. We only rent to one group at a time, so when you reserve the camp for your group, you will be the only group on the grounds during that period. All it takes to reserve the grounds for your retreat is a $100 deposit to hold your date (fully refundable until less than 60 days before your retreat) and a completed contract. Please see below for more information about using Camp Sooner. For even more information, check out our FAQs page.

The Retreat Center is where most people choose to stay for smaller retreats. There is a full kitchen in the RC complete with stove/oven, refrigerator and microwave. We do have supplies and cooking utensils in the RC for your use - please see attachment to know what we have. There is a living room area with three couches and a TV/VCR/DVD combo unit. There are also two living areas - each side has 5 bunks (sleeps a total of 10 per side), two showers, two toilets and two sinks. Some groups choose to bring sleeping bags and or inflatable mattresses and sleep extra people on the floors of either side or in the center living room area. There are two 8' tables and chairs for your use as well. The Retreat Center is air conditioned and heated. [Return to Top]

The Dining Hall is available for meal preparation, entertainment, and as a meeting place. Rent of the Dining Hall allows you to use any utensils in the kitchen, the sound system/TV units in the main area and any other aspects the Dining Hall offers (including the walk-in freezers and refrigerators). We do have a soda fountain that can be used for an additional fee of $10/day. The Dining Hall is carpeted and has air conditioning and one bathroom attached; there is no heat. [Return to Top]

There are 14 cabins on the campgrounds that are available for rent. Each cabin sleeps twelve with the exceptions of cabins 5 and 6. Cabin 5 sleeps only ten, but has a shower and toilet in the cabin. Cabin 6 sleeps four and also has a shower and toilet inside the cabin. HOWEVER, Cabin 6 is unavailable for rent during our summer church camp season because it is where our on campus nurse lives for the summer. Cabins 1-5 are traditionally boys' cabins and 7-14 are girls'. There are two bath houses on the grounds - one on the boys' end and one on the girls'. Each has multiple toilets, sinks and showers. All cabins have window air conditioners and attic fans. [Return to Top]

From the months of October to March, the camp is winterized - this means that the dining hall and both bath houses do not have any running water to them. The Retreat Center is open and fully functional and can be used year round. You may feel free to stay in cabins, but please know that the cabins are not heated (you may however bring space heaters to use) and do not have bathrooms attached to them. If you wish to use cabins and use the retreat center for bathrooms/showers, this is fine. We recommend using cabins 13 & 14 because they are within a convenient distance from the Retreat Center. You may wish to use cabins 10-12 as well, but they are just a little farther way. You may use the Dining Hall to meet in, but the kitchen and bathroom that are attached will not be available. There is no heat in the Dining Hall, either, but space heaters are fine. NOTE: If you use space heaters anywhere on the campgrounds, we ask that you not leave them running unattended because of fire hazard. [Return to Top]

We do have a pool that is available for use from mid-March through mid-October. If you choose to rent the pool, you must provide a certified lifeguard or someone who is CPR certified who will be responsible for those swimming. If you rent the camp during our summer church camp season, we do have a lifeguard on staff who could be hired for your use if you choose, but you must let us know ahead of time so that he/she can be available for you. The pool is 5' deep at its deepest and 1.5' shallow in the low end. There is no diving board or diving allowed in the pool because of its depth. There are lights in the pool that make it a nice place for an evening/night swim session. [Return to Top]

There is a campfire ring/pit that you are more than welcome to use free of charge while you are here. We simply ask that you make sure that your fire is fully extinguished when you are finished using it. There are also benches to sit on around the campfire making it a great place to sit and talk in the evenings. Bring your own S'mores or hotdogs to complete the campfire atmosphere. [Return to Top]

The campgrounds are large and provide many activities free to you when you use the camp. These include a softball field with a backstop, horseshoe pits, swings, monkey bars, tetherball, carpet ball, a sand volleyball court, a full outdoor basketball court (lighted), a Frisbee golf course, shelters to meet in and an outdoor amphitheater (chapel area). [Return to Top]

Because this is a Christian campground, we do have some guidelines for your stay here. Please do not bring any alcoholic beverages onto the campgrounds - doing so will result in immediate dismissal from the grounds without refund of your deposit. Smoking is also not permitted on the campgrounds. Pets are welcome, but must be leashed and are NOT permitted inside any buildings. Also, because of recent renovations to some of our facilities, any vandalism or other destructive behaviors will result in immediate dismissal from the campgrounds without refund of deposit and you will also be charged for cleaning/repairs to damaged areas.
